Wow! I have to say I was surprised about Joyent picking up TextDrive. But I have been really surprised by the reaction of some of the TxDers on the forum. There has been a lot of heated discussion about the acquisition and I, for one, can’t see what the problem is.

As a community we love TextDrive. Many of us have invested large sums of money to help get TextDrive going. Some have spent hours on the forums and the IRC channel helping to sustain the business. We have come to know and love the guys and gals that help run our servers. But . . . we don’t own TextDrive and we shouldn’t have any say in what business decisions are made by those who do. Demands for a written guarantee that will ensure the continuation of my VC hosting account by the new owners seems downright whiny to me.

I say congrats to both sides of this deal and to those of us who are fortunate to be in the middle as well. Things will be getting better from here . . . of that I am ever so hopeful.
